Akhir 19, 1432 H/March 24, 2011, SPA -- Two soldiers were killed and two wounded in a roadside bombing allegedly perpetrated by communist rebels in the southern Philippines, an army spokesman said Thursday. According to dpa, the victims were among a group of 14 troops conducting house-to-house visits in a village in Santa Cruz town in Davao del Sur province, 960 kilometers south of Manila, on Wednesday. "The soldiers were consulting residents about a plan to build a school in the area," said Lieutenant Colonel Lyndon Paniza, an army spokesman. "An improvised landmine exploded as the troops were walking to another house, killing two soldiers and wounding two," he said.
