Akhir 11, 1432, March 16, 2011, SPA -- The White House on Tuesday said that they remain supportive of the Japanese government's response to the disaster that hit the country last week. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said that the United States is advising its citizens in Japan to listen to local officials. When asked about the United States' level of comfort with the information coming out of Japan, Carney said that the U.S. is "coordinating very closely with the Japanese" and that there are American independent experts on the ground in the country as well. "I have no reason to say that [U.S. President Barack Obama] is not" satisfied with the Japanese response to the "historic tragedy" that took place. "Japan is a good friend and ally" and the U.S. president is "heartbroken" by what took place there days ago, Carney said, stressing the "United States is continuing" to do everything it can to help the Japanese.
