Akhir 05 , 1432 H. / March 10, 2011 -- At least eight factory workers were killed in a fire early Thursday near the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, police and firefighters said, according to dpa. The fire broke out at a dying and printing press in the suburb of Shaymapur. The eight victims, aged 15 to 25, were presumed to have been sleeping in the factory. Rescue workers retrieved the charred bodies from the top floor of the four-storey building after putting the fire out, the duty officer at the Shaymapur police station said. Fire service officials said the blaze might have originated from an electrical short circuit. Factory fires in Bangladesh are frequent because of lax implementation of safety regulations.
