Dhabi, 02 Rabi Al-Akhir 1432 / March 07, 2011, SPA -- Foreign ministers of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC ) ended in Abu-Dhabi this evening the 118 ordinary meeting. In a statement, the GCC states called for a no-fly zone to be imposed in Libya, and for an urgent Arab League meeting to discuss the situation in Libya. "(The foreign ministers)...called on the ... (U.N.) Security Council to protect Libyan civilians, including through a no-fly zone," said a statement issued after the ministers' meeting. The ministers also called for an urgent Arab League meeting to discuss Libya. The ministers condemned the crimes against the civilians by use of heavy weapons, live bullets and foreign mercenaries. They called on Libyan authorities to immediately stop using force against the civilians, facilitate arrival of humanitarian aid and realize the aspirations of the Libyan people. The ministers praised GCC countries' initiatives to provide humanitarian aid to the Libyan people wishing security and stability for Libya. The Council also expressed its support for the UN Security Council Resolution No. 1970 dated 26.02.2011 and the decision of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations, dated 02/25/2011.
