Jordan and Iraq agreed on Saturday to broaden scopes for health cooperation and called on a joint technical committee appointed under a signed health protocol to meet soon. Minister of Health Mahmoud Sheyab told his Iraqi counterpart Majid Hamad Amin, who is heading a health delegation to explore various aspects of cooperation, that Jordan would place all its health expertise and potentials at the disposal of its neighbor, including helping Iraqis crossing into the Kingdom for treatment and training of Iraqi medical and nursing cadres, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported. Sheyab also told the team that Jordan had an extended and highly credible pharmaceutical sector and that nationally-produced medicines had accessed the international market due to their quality and competitive prices. The Iraqi minister thanked Jordan for facilitating the entry of Iraqis seeking medication, noting that Iraqis received the same treatment in public hospitals as Jordanians. "There are wide areas of cooperation between the two health ministries, including training of Iraqi medical staff in Jordan, exchange of expertise and purchase of Jordanian medicines," Amin said.
