Hijjah, 1431/Nov 26, 2010, SPA -- Japanese shares declined Friday as investors sold shares to lock in immediate gains after a recent rally, according to dpa. The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average lost 40.2 points, or 0.4 per cent, to close at 10,039.56. The broader Topix index was down 3 points, or 0.34 per cent, at 866.81. Tokyo market opened higher this morning, but the Nikkei gradually declined as investors had few fresh cues with the US financial markets closed Thursday for the Thanksgiving holiday. For the week, the Nikkei edged up 0.17 per cent while the Topix was down 0.31 per cent. On currency markets at 3 pm (0600 GMT), the dollar traded at 83.79-82 yen, up from Thursday's 5 pm quote of 83.50-51 yen. The euro traded at 1.3312-3315 dollars, down from 1.3332-3333 dollars Thursday, and at 111.54-59 yen, up from 111.32-36 yen.
