Hijjah 14, 1431 / Nov. 20, 2010, SPA -- Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy Dr. Hassan Younis announced today that a marine survey will be conducted next week for the electricity linkage lines in the Gulf of Aqaba between Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He also said that the survey is expected to last 20 days, pointing out that an international bid to conduct this project will be offered early next year. The land survey for the 1300km electricity linkage lines between Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was completed, the Egyptian Minister said. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt will exchange 3000 megawatts of electricity during peak hours in a bid to offset power outages, according to the project plans. Saudi peak hours takes place during daylight, while Egyptian peak hours are between eight and ten in the evening.
