CAIRO: Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Hassan Younis, announced Saturday that a marine survey will be conducted next week on the proposed 1,300-km electricity link-up in the Gulf of Aqaba between Egypt and Saudi Arabia. He said the survey is expected to last 20 days, and that an international tender will be offered early next year for the project. The land survey for lines between the two countries has been completed, the Egyptian minister said. Saudi Arabia and Egypt will exchange 3,000 megawatts of electricity during peak hours in a bid to offset power outages, according to the project plans.
