Qa'dah 26, 1431 / Nov. 3, 2010, SPA -- A magnitude-5.5 earthquake shook West Lampung, Lampung Province on Wednesday at 10.01 am local time, causing coastal area residents to rush to higher grounds. "The earthquake was felt quite strongly, so it scared people leaving near coastal line. They ran to higher grounds in an anticipation of a subsequent tsunami," ANTARA quoted Samsudin Ahlan (42), an inhabitant of Kota Jawa village, Pesisir Tengah sub district, West Lampung District, as saying today. The quake's epicenter was located 6.68 degrees southern latitude and 103.78 degrees eastern longitude at a depth of 10 km below sea level, according to the meteorological, climatology and geophysics office. The earthquake, however, did not have potential to trigger a tsunami.
