The Arab Union for Voluntary Work (AUVW) has chosen Abu Dhabi as a headquarter for the Arab Academy for Voluntary Works in appreciation of UAE's efforts in the field of volunteerism and humanitarian works. The Academy is the first of its kind in the Arab world through which many training courses, workshops and seminars will be held with the participation of experts in the field of voluntary works for the rehabilitation and the preparation of national cadres in the field of volunteerism, according to a report of the UAE news agency "WAM." In a statement on this occasion, Dr Adel Al Shamri, CEO of Zayed Giving Initiative said that the aim of establishing an Arab academy for Voluntary Works is to encourage voluntary action and urged community members to make a serious and active participation in voluntary works through seminars and training courses at the Academy. For his part, Secretary-General of Arab Union Yusuf Kazem said that the voluntary work has become a chief component in building societies and spreading social solidarity among citizens in any society. Kazem also hailed the efforts of the United Arab Emirates in the field of volunteerism and humanitarian works.
