The United Arab Emirates and Seychelles have signed an agreement for military cooperation. The agreement was signed here today by Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Seychelles" Minister of Environment, National Resources, & Transport Joel Morgan. Sheikh Abdullah welcomed the visiting minister and praised the progressive ties of friendship and cooperation between the UAE and Seychelles. For his part, Morgan said the agreement was poised to open new opportunities for cooperation. Following signing of the agreement, the two ministers discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in all fields, the UAE news agency "WAM" reported. The agreement provides for promoting and facilitating military cooperation in the fields of defence, security, training, scientific research, as well as humanitarian and peacekeeping operations. It comes as part of the UAE"s commitment to combat maritime piracy in compliance with the United Nations and Security Council"s resolutions.
