DAMMAM: The 8th Forum for Volunteerism, Human Innate Character and a Cultural View, organized by the Ibdaa' (Creativity) Forum in cooperation with the Volunteerism Society, kicked off in the Eastern Province Monday under the patronage of Princess Jawahir Bint Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, wife of the EP Emir, and in the presence of more than 300 women and girls. The event is themed: “Voluntary work is human nature”. Noura Faisal Al-Sha'aban, head of the organizing committee, said Saudi females can be innovative in all fields but need encouragement from society. It was important to help the needy by providing training and education, she added. Rania Bubshayt, executive director of the Voluntary Work Society, said “voluntary work is a reflection of the responsibility we feel toward others”. Dr. Fatima Al-Bloushi, Bahrain's Minister of Social Development, said the formation of private youth organizations was an important initiative of her ministry. Al-Bloushi praised Saudi women for organizing the forum, noting that the event was rooted in actual day-to-day experiences and not theory. Maha Fitaihi, wife of the minister of labor, emphasized Princess Jawahir's role in supporting women in the Eastern Province. A workshop on media's role in developing, stimulating and supporting volunteerism and social service is also being organized on the sidelines of the forum.
