Tropical Storm Igor has formed in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa near the Cape Verde Islands, the Miami-based National Hurricane Center (NHC) said Wednesday. NHC forecasters said Igor has top sustained winds near 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and was moving westward near 13 kph. The center of the storm is expected to pass south of the Cape Verde Islands by Thursday. Gradual strengthening of the storm is expected over the next two days, the NHC said.
