Eleven people die after work site accident in NE China

Eleven people died after an elevator at a hospital construction site in Meihekou City in northeast China's Jilin Province fell early Monday, local authorities said.
The accident happened when the elevator with 11 people inside crashed from the sixth floor to the ground at 6:35 a.m. at the Aimin Hospital construction site, Xinhua reported.
The construction of the 12-story building has been completed and the workers were engaging in the exterior decoration while the accident happened.
The 11 people died after failing to respond to medical treatment. Police are investigating the case. The site has been cordoned off.
