A flood triggered by incessant heavy rains, has inundated Indonesian Nauruan and paralyzed Java`s northern coastal highway of East Java since Tuesday evening, Antara News Agency reported. The downpour has caused the Welang River to overflow and submerge the Tambakrejo road at Kraton, up to one meter deep. The flood has also cut off the Pasuruan-Bangil route, forcing passersby to use the Purwosari-Pandaan road as an alternative route. A 500-meter long road was also affected by the flood and it has disturbed the traffic flow in the area which connects Java island with Bali island. Bambang Pudjiono, a local official of Pasuruan district, said Tambakrejo road began to be inundated at 9 pm local time on Tuesday, and it was totally cut off at around 10 pm due to one-meter high flood. The flood has also submerged hundreds of houses in Kraton sub district. In Pamekasan District, Madura Island, East Java Province, floods have inundated thousands of hectares of tobacco plantations, following heavy rains since Tuesday. Tens of hectares of salt ponds in Galis and Pademawu sub districts have also been submerged under the floodwaters.
