The Permanent Delegation of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization "UNESCO" has continued its efforts to mobilize support for the insertion of Dir'iya on World Heritage List. The Annual International Conference of UNESCO World Heritage Committee to be hosted in the Brazilian capital, Brasilia on Monday and lasts until August 8th, will discuss Dir'iya file among the requests to be submitted by UNESCO Member States to include new sites on World Heritage List. More than 2000 experts and specialists in the field of antiquities around the world will take part in the conference, as well as ambassadors and heads of delegations of Member States to UNESCO. Saudi ambassador to UNESCO, Dr. Ziad Al-Drees has held meetings with his counterparts to UNESCO to mobilize support for the Saudi file of Dir'iya. Dir'iya has a historical and cultural position as it represents a mud brick structure, which has now gained global attention of professionals in urban environmental patterns. It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia was inserted on World Heritage List for the first time in 2008 when it registered Mada'in Saleh as the first new Saudi site on the World list. Also, International Council for Monuments and Sites (ICMOS) is discussing the third Saudi file of ''Historical Jeddah'' to be inserted on the world list, which will be discussed by Conference of World Heritage Committee at to be held in Bahrain, in July, 2011.
