Prince Sultan Ibn Salman Ibn Abdulaziz, President of Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities has announced that the World Heritage Committee, approved the registration of Turaif Quarter in historic Dir'iya on World Heritage List of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization "UNESCO' , during the Committee's meeting in its 34th session currently in progress in the city of Brasilia, Brazil. Turaif Quarter in historic Dir'iya is considered the second registered Saudi site on the World Heritage List after the registration of Mada'in Saleh on the list on 07/07/2008. The file of historic Jeddah was submitted to UNESCO and will be considered in the next session of the World Heritage Committee. On this occasion, Prince Sultan Ibn Salman Ibn Abdulaziz, expressed his thanks to and appreciation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince, and the Second Deputy Premier for their support for efforts to preserve the national heritage and its development to remain as a source of pride and cultural and economic resources, also praising High Commission for Dir'iya Development chaired by Prince Salman Ibn Abdulaziz, the Governor of Riyadh Province, for implementation of an integrated project within Program of Historic Dir'iya Revival.
