Azerbaijan's National Assembly Chairman Ogtay Asadov today lauded the role played by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in boosting dialogue for peaceful co-existence to pave the way for bringing about security, peace and stability in the world community. Speaking at a meeting with Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Shoura Council, currently on a visit to Baku, Asadov cited the initiative of the King for dialogue among followers of different religions, cultures and civilizations. He expressed the appreciation of his country's leadership and people for the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its government's firm position towards Nagorno Karabakh enclave. In this regard, he praised the assistance rendered by the Kingdom for refugees to alleviate their sufferings. He pointed out to the great status occupied by the Kingdom as regards politics and economics, thanks to Allah Almighty and the firm policies and positions towards different international issues, particularly the Islamic issues in addition to its vast economic leverage, not only in the region, but also at the international arena. He highlighted his country's interest in boosting relations with the Kingdom at all levels, noting the importance of the visit paid by late President Hayder Aliiv to the Kingdom, resulting in the signing of a number of bilateral agreements in different fields. He called for more exchange of visits between senior officials of the two countries, particularly between the two countries' chambers. For his part, Al Al-Sheikh expressed appreciation for the government and people of Azerbaijan for the warm welcome and generous hospitality accorded to the Shoura Council's delegation. He lauded the relations between the Kingdom and Azerbaijan, under the leadership of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and President Ilham Hayder Aliiv, noting the parliamentary cooperation between the two chambers. During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of issues of mutual concern, particularly parliamentary cooperation between the two chambers. They, also discussed ways of enhancing the role of parliamentary friendship committees between the two countries. The meeting was attended by the two countries' delegations to the joint parliamentary committee.
