UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan , in the presence of the Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, met yesterday at Al Rodah Palace in Al Ain with the British Prime Minister David Cameron, who arrived earlier in the United Arab Emirates on a short visit. Sheikh Khalifa welcomed the British Prime Minister and his entourage, praising the historic relations between the UAE and the UK in all fields. The meeting dealt with ways to boost the ties of co-operation and friendship between the two countries in different fields and the latest developments in the regional and international arenas The UAE President emphasized the keenness of the UAE to support the peace process in the Middle East in accordance with the relevant international resolutions. For his part, Cameron said he was pleased to be making his first visit to the UAE, since becoming British Prime Minister, and at meeting Sheikh Khalifa. Cameron hailed the development and growth being experienced by the UAE in all areas, making mention of the wise and balanced policies of the UAE leadership that had enabled the country to occupy a distinguished position at the regional and international level, according to a report of the UAE news agency "WAM". "My visit to the UAE and my meeting with Sheikh Khalifa provided an opportunity to exchange views on a number of the latest current issues in the region", he said. Britain and the UAE have strong and special historic ties, he said, adding that his government was keen to strengthen those relations.
