The 12th meeting for the Board of Directors of the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) recently held a meeting in Kuwait, has adopted a number of important decisions in the field of measures and related activities in a manner that will contribute to removing obstacles facing the process of trade exchange among the GCC member states as well as various international markets. Dr Anwar al-Abdullah, the Board's secretary general, said the meeting which comprised ministers concerned with measures and specifications in the member states has elaborately discussed the report submitted by the secretary general on the progress attained in the field of measures, specifications and compatibility. He noted that the Board of Directors has approved a number of technical statutes for a number of commodities and products. Dr Al-Abdullah said the Board of Directors has approved the document of the intellectual property for specifications and measures as well as the gulf technical statutes. He expected that the outcome of the meeting will have a positive impact on the commercial and industrial sectors as well as on protection of consumers.
