A number of officials have highlighted the great achievements attained by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the era of the Custodian the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the King 's ascendance to the throne. The Cabinet's Secretary General Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Sadhan said in an article that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been witnessing a great developmental progress in all fields, pointing to the Kingdom's effective and influential presence at many regional and international arenas. He indicated that the King called for Dialogue among Followers of Religions and opened the way for establishing bridges of understanding with other cultures in the world, noting that the King also established King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE). In a statement on this occasion, the Rector of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals Dr. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Sultan pointed out that in the King's era, higher education has achieved great and comprehensive accomplishments. He noted that the state's budget allocated SR 136.6 billion for education, higher education and training, indicating that the number of governmental universities increased to 24 universities in addition to many private universities and colleges. Dr. Al-Sultan highlighted the launch of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Program for Foreign Scholarships and the establishment of King Abdullah University for Science and Technology. --MORE
