Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of topics particularly the awarding of King Khalid Prize for National Achievement to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the King"s order to mobilize all capabilities for assisting victims of Jeddah floods. In its editorial, Al-Nadwah newspaper pointed out the King was awarded the Prize for his great achievements in developing higher education and upgrading its standards, noting that the King has given priority to education as the progress of the country depends on the standards of its education. The paper said, "Thanks to the directives of the King for the achievement of an educational revolution in the Kingdom," noting that the Saudi people have reaped the fruits of educational institutions throughout the Kingdom. The paper indicated that during the King"s era, the number of the universities has jumped from 8 to 24 universities in addition to 9 private universities.
