Two earthquakes measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale shook Cilacap town in Central Java on Friday night. "The two quakes had the same intensity, namely 5.2 on the Richter scale," ANTARA quoted chief of the Banjarnegara geophysics station Ahmad Lani as saying. The first quake which occurred at 10.12 p.m. was centered 244 km southwest of Cilacap at a depth of 10 km, he said. The epicenter of the second quake which struck at 10.32 p.m. was located 250 km southwest of Cilacap at a depth of 15 km, he said. The two quakes did not have the potential to cause a tsunami, he said. Spokesman of the Cilacap district natural disaster mitigation board Tarno said he had yet to receive a report of material damage caused by the quakes. "Neither have we received a report from local residents who felt the quakes," he said.
