Concluding its 16th conference here today, Arab Parliamentary Union (APU) stressed the need to give priority to collective Arab national security in all activities and actions carried out by Arab leaders and Arab governments and organizations at all levels and arenas. Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, Speaker of Shoura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia led his country's delegation to the Conference. In a final statement released today following the conclusion of its conference, the APU confirmed that in light of current international developments, the Arab solidarity is the indispensable basic pillar and effective tool to provide the elements of comprehensive development, promote democracy, protect human rights and strength the capacities of Arab countries to unite the energies of the Arab nation. The statement expressed hope that the next Arab summit conference due to be held in the Libyan city of Sirte in March could heal the rift, unite, resolve inter-Arab differences and revive Arab solidarity in the framework of a sound strategy that will enable the Arab nation to face the imminent dangers and prove its effective presence at the international level. --SPA
