AQABA, JORDAN, FEB. 25, SPA -- A DELEGATION OF THE SHOURA COUNCIL, LED BY DEPUTY CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNCIL MAHMOUD BIN ABDULLAH TAIBA, ARRIVED IN THIS JORDANIAN CITY OF AL-AQABA TO TAKE PART IN THE 49TH SESSION OF THE ARAB PARLIAMENTARY UNION (APU) SCHEDULED FOR AQABA FROM 26-27 FEBRUARY. THE DELEGATION WAS RECEIVED BY SPEAKER OF JORDAN'S HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ABDULAZIZ ALMAJALI, SENIOR OFFICIALS OF THE APU AND SAUDI AMBASSADOR TO JORDAN ABDULRAHMAN BIN NASSER AL-OHALI. IN A STATEMENT, TAIBA THANKED THE JORDANIAN SIDE FOR WARM WELCOME AND GENEROUS HOSPITALITY ACCORDED TO HIM AND HIS ACCOMPANYING DELEGATION. HE UNDERSCORED THE IMPORTANCE OF HOLDING ARAB PARLIAMENTARY MEETING TO DISCUSS IMPORTANT ISSUES OF CONCERN TO THE ARAB AND ISLAMIC NATION. LATER, THE SAUDI AMBASSADOR GAVE A LUNCH PARTY IN HONOR OF THE SHOURA DELEGATION. A NUMBER OF DIGNITARIES ATTENDED THE EVENT.
