Stormy weather sparked power cuts on Spain's Canary Islands today, leaving all of the 1 million Tenerife residents without electricity, dpa cited sources of the power company Endesa as saying. Winds were believed to have the contributed to severing a connection at the central power plant. Electricity was being re-established. Power cuts also affected hundreds of people on the islands of El Hierro and La Gomera. More than 20 flights were cancelled mainly on routes linking the Canary Islands.
