Officials of the UAE Federal Customs Authority held recently a meeting with Kunio Mikuriya, Secretary General World Customs Organization (WCO) in Abu Dhabi to discuss ways to further bolster cooperation, face global challenges to customs as well as to streamline trade and work at the UAE's points of entry. According to Acting Director General of the Federal Customs Authority Khalid Al-Bustani, the meeting also discussed the adoption of the best international standards in managing risks and practices that could harm the interests of the economy and the community. He stressed that the United Arab Emirates is expected to join the Kyoto Convention before the middle of the current year. The Authority is also planning to join Istanbul Convention by the end of 2010, according to a report of the UAE news agency "WAM".
