The 31st session of the GCC Under-Secretaries of Social Affairs was held at Al Bustan Palace Hotel here yesterday under the Chairmanship of Ahmed bin Rashid al Maamari, Under-Secretary of the Omani Ministry of Social Development. Al Maamari said that rapid developments being witnessed by the world require us to work harder to avoid the global impacts and provide our citizens with a socially secure living standards. "To achieve this, it is necessary to activate joint action based on the partnership among the different sectors of society," said al Maamari, adding that this goal could be realized only through devising clear plans and strategies at all national and regional levels. The agenda of the meeting cover a number of issues related to social work, including The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) social security systems and social aids. The meeting will also discuss a study on social responsibility and its role in development, drafting family schemes and addressing juvenile delinquency, among other issues, according to a report of Oman News Agency (ONA).
