The 31st meeting of a working group of the Gulf Cooperation for the climate change started here today with the participation of members from the GCC Consultative Commission. The participants are reviewing issues pertaining to climate change at the regional and international arenas. The address of GCC Secretary General Abdul-Rahman Al-Attiyah to the meeting, which was read on his behalf by Dr Abdullah al-Hashim, the GCC Assistant Secretary General for the affairs of environment, reiterated that the participation of the GCC states in all international initiatives had been aiming at the preservation of the environment within the framework of the sustainable development as well as social and economic development. In his address, the GCC Secretary General also called on the international community to exert additional efforts for ensuring a secured and honorable life for the new generations. The GCC is made up of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.
