Lebanese minister of information Dr Tariq Metri opened here today the training institute of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) in the presence of directors general of the Arab news agencies and their representatives as well as FANA"s secretary general Dr Farid Eyar and a number of media men. Speaking on the occasion, Metri underscored the importance of establishing training institutes for the training of the media cadres in the Arab world. On his part Dr Farid Eyar expressed appreciation for the contribution of Saudi press agency and the other Arab news agencies to the establishment of the institute which will play a significant role as regards training of media cadres. Meanwhile, Ramadan al-Rawanda, the director general of the Jordanian news agency, said the establishment of the institute embodies the existing cooperation among the Arab news agencies. --SP
