Riyadh newspaper praised the speech delivered by Imam of al-Haram Sheikh Abdulrahman al-Sideis last week in which he underscored the important role that could be played by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). It quoted Sheikh al-Sideis as saying that KAUST will play a significant role in the service of the society notably in the afield of higher studies. Meanwhile, the paper said the head of the Islamic jurisprudence council in America and member of the European Ifta council as well as Sheikh Rashad Khalil, the dean of faculty of Shariah and law at Cairo-based al-Azhar university have also praised KAUST. The daily pointed out that the Kingdom has established universities and institutes to catch the train of the developed countries. --more
