Dr Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz al-Sideis, the Imam of Haram, has highlighted the significance of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz contest for memorization of the Prophet's Hadeeth (sayings). Dr al-Sideis, who is also member of the academic staff at Makkah-based Ummal Qura university, said the organization of the contest tomorrow, comes in line with the great attention being given by Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz to the Hadeeth, which is considered as the second source, after the Holy Quran, of the Islamic Shariah. Dr al-Sideis described the prize of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz for the Prophet's Sunnah (teachings) and contemporary sciences as a blessed and unique prize. He hoped that the prize would positively contribute to tackling the problems of extremism among the youth and lead them towards the path of proper Islam, which is characterized by moderation. Dr al-Sideis said the prize will project the advantages of Islam which runs counter to extremism and terrorism. It will positively contribute to spreading the spirit of mercy, harmony, love and peace, he added. Dr al-Sideis noted that Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz is one of the persons who work silently for enhancing the pillars of security and peace, and he is one of those who are preoccupied with the problems of the people, notably the youth. --more
