Five Pakistanis who were stopped in Jeddah for allegedly trying to smuggle drugs into the Kingdom arrived in Islamabad today after having pleaded not guilty. In Islamabad, they were received by the Pakistani Minister of Interior Rahman Malik, a number of senior officials and relatives. In a statement on the occasion, the Saudi Embassy in Islamabad said the authority concerned in the Kingdom has released the accused who were detained four months ago after having proved that they were carrying luggage on behalf of other passengers without knowing the contents of the bags. He said the Minister of Interior of Pakistan Rahman Malik met with officials in the Kingdom earlier and briefed them on the investigation he made into the incident in Pakistan leading to the arrest of the real culprits.
