The Shoura Council held here today a session presided over by the Chairman of the Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammad bin Ibrahim Al Alsheikh. At the outset of the session, the council extended congratulations to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier and Interior Minister, the royal family, the Saudi people and the Arab and Islamic nations on Eid Alfitr. In a statement by its chairman, the council highlighted the 79th national day of the kingdom which fell on Wednesday, the 4th of the current month of Shawal. The chairman of the council praised the opening of King Abdullah University for Science and Technology. He condemned the treacherous terrorist bombing attempt against Prince Mohammad bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Assistant Minister of Interior for Security Affairs. The council praised the preventive measures by the state to fight the swine influenza pandemic and efforts to serve Umrah performers. The council approved proposed amendments of the World Monetary Fund Agreement and a decision concerning a long-term strategy on the issues of Hajj and Umrah. The council approved annual reports of the Control and Investigation Bureau and the Ministry of Education.
