The U.N. Human Rights Council has barred representatives of Honduras' interim government from its meeting in Geneva after protests by some Latin American countries, AP reported. Council president Alex Van Meeuwen says Brazil and Argentina protested the presence of a Honduran envoy because he is not from the government of ousted leader Manuel Zelaya. Zelaya was deposed and forced into exile by a June 28 military coup, but the United Nations still recognizes his government. Van Meeuwen said Tuesday that under U.N. rules Honduran Ambassador Delmer Urbizo Panting cannot take part in the meeting until he proves that he represents the rightful government. -- SPA
