Taiwan has reported one more death from the A/H1N1 influenza, bringing the island's total to seven, Xinhua quoted the island's health authority as confirming. The latest victim was a 49-year-old man in Taipei County. The county's health bureau would make an explanation later on the victim's condition and whether he had other diseases, according to the authority. It was unknown whether the victim had been abroad. Earlier on Thursday, the island's health authority said the number of people infected with the A/H1N1 influenza on the island was increasing quickly, with 104 people in critical conditions. Taiwan also put Chiu Cheng-Hsiung, deputy head of the island's "Executive Yuan", in charge of A/H1N1 flu control, with the aim of better inter-department cooperation. A 39-year-old man was the first in Taiwan to die from A/H1N1 on July 30. A six-year-old girl died of the flu on Aug.16, and a 24-year-old college student died on Aug. 21.
