An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale shook the waters 172 km southeast of Melonguane in North Sulawesi province on Sunday, ANTARA reported. The quake which struck at 6.44 p.m. was 30 km beneath sea level and did not have the potential to cause a tsunami, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said.
