Prince Saud Al Faisal, the Minister of Foreign Affairs is leading the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the 36th Session of the Ministerial Council of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Countries, which opened its deliberations here today. In an address at the opening session, Syria's President Bashar Al Assad said the session's theme "Towards Enhancing Islamic Solidarity," is highly suitable at the present time as the Islamic countries are facing grave political and cultural challenges which require quick search of a strategy to coordinate efforts in addressing these challenges. "There is a dire need for showing an active and united presence at the international arena to protect the interests of the Islamic world and preserve its identity," he said. As many as 57 Foreign Ministers and representatives of Islamic countries and observers are attending the session, who were whole-heartedly welcomed by the Syrian President.
