The Secretary-General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsan Oglu, opened here today the activities of the 32nd session of the Islamic Commission for Economic, Social and Cultural Affairs. In a key speech, Prof. Oglu highlighted the OIC's achievements due to the support of the its member states, especially, the strengthening of bonds of Islamic solidarity and the promotion of the Islamic nation at the global arena. During the opening session, members of the Bureau of the 32nd session of the Islamic Commission for Economic, Social and Cultural Affairs were elected. This is a preliminary session for the 36th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC's Member States which will be held in the Syrian capital of Damascus from 23 to May 25, 2009.
