Pakistan's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar has underlined the dire need to promote greater cooperation between the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to meet the challenges faced by the Islamic world. In an address at the 38th session of the Foreign Affairs (Ministerial) Committee now in progress in Astana - the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Pakistan's Minister of State For Foreign Affairs said the Islamic countries are facing a range of challenges, specifying in this context the phenomenon of terrorism, the preservation of their sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence. She also spoke about the importance of dealing with the situation faced by some Muslim countries and the need to exploit (resources and potentials) to enhance cooperation between the OIC countries to achieve peace and development for their peoples.
