Saudi Arabia has gained the membership of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change- Group III in the 30th session of the IPCC held during the period of April 21-23 in Antalya - Turkey. More than 170 countries - members of the United Nations, participated in the session. The delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was led by Assistant to the President of Presidency of Metreology and Environment (PME) Sameer Bukhari, who is also Saudi Arabia's permanent representative to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). The IPCC is a scientific intergovernmental body set up by the WMO and by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
