The Islamic Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) strongly condemned Israel's banning of the cultural and artistic events held in Al-Quds to mark the celebration of Al-Quds as capital of Arab culture for the year 2009. In its communiqué issued today, ISESCO pointed out that this ban clearly illustrates the policy of hostility and aggression pursued by the Israeli occupation forces to impose a siege on the Palestinian people and to deprive them from their legitimate rights, including their right to undertake cultural and artistic action. ISESCO called on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to urgently prevail upon Israel, within the scope of its powers, to refrain from banning the cultural and artistic activities scheduled in celebration of Al-Quds as capital of Arab culture.
