In a communiqué to the specialized international organizations, notably UNESCO, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) condemned the barbarian Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which targets cultural and educational institutions, mosques, hospitals, and civilian residential districts, claiming a toll of martyrs and wreaking havoc. The communiqué called on the international community to take prompt action to stop the Israeli aggression and bring its perpetrators to justice. In this respect, ISESCO stated that the ongoing Israeli onslaught is a terrorist, criminal act which is condemned by all international instruments and declarations, and prohibited by all religious teachings and universal values. “The international community's reaction to the ongoing atrocities is a shame. This community is shying away from its responsibility to maintain world security and peace and to prevent aggression, while Israel's heinous crimes and enormities being perpetrated by Israel against an unarmed people subjected to blockade, continue unabated.” On this occasion, ISESCO called for solidarity among the Muslim countries to immediately take firm decisions to stand by the Palestinian people in a bid to stop aggression against it. By the same token, ISESCO appealed to the Palestinian factions to put aside their differences and to act as a united resistance front against the oppressive enemy, the express aim being to liberate their occupied territories and to establish their independent Palestinian State.
