The General Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs ( SCIA) resumed its activities on Thursday by holding the 1st working session which was chaired by Saudi Minister of Islamic affairs, endowments, call and guidance Sheikh Salih Al Alsheikh. At the opening session, Dr. Al Alsheikh expressed appreciation for the Egyptian government, represented by the Ministry of Endowments, for hosting this conference which is due to discuss a nnumber of important topics including the renewal of Islamic jurisprudence. "The renewal of Islamic thought is the renewal of the crisis in which we live, and the Arab Ummah (Nation) lives, namely, the crisis of the Muslim mind in general and that of the Arab one, in particular", Dr. Al Alsheikh explained. He added that "our current crises today reflect the weak of a lot of the Islamic institutions, even those of education, emphasizing that today there is no place for the weak, isolated or hateful, but today is the time of the reformers and scholars who lead the Ummah (Nation) to a bright future. Then, a lot of topics and working papers related to the renewal of the Islamic thought were discussed with the starting of the session.
