World Assembly of Muslim Youth ( WAMY) has implemented a number of educational projects in Nigeria including the first private university (al-Hikma University) in Kawaras state. More than 1000 students are studying at the university in various specializations. Member of WAMY's board of trustees and the university's supervisor general Dr Oweish al-Ghamidi said the university is one of WAMY's pioneering educational projects in Nigeria. He noted that it started in 1999 as college for education and Islamic sciences and was turned into a university in 2004. Dr al-Qweish pointed out that the university started with the faculties of arts, human sciences, administrative sciences and physical sciences. Later new specialization were introduced to the university like computer sciences, chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, and industrial chemistry. More than70 academicians in addition to more than 100 employees are working at the university, he said.
