Officials of external media at the Gulf Cooperation Council held here today their 20th meeting to discuss a number of media-related issues. The meeting, held at the GCC's Secretariat Headquarters in Riyadh, discussed GCC's joint external media movement. The meeting also discussed "GCC Days" project to be organized this year in the Italian Capital Rome. The GCC Days aims at addressing the Italian public on the issues of mutual interest especially those related to women's' developmental role in GCC states. Moreover, it will discuss ways of enhancing economic cooperation between Italy and GCC states in terms of investment and business opportunities as well as investment in energy and gas in the region. The GCC Days also focuses on bridging cultural gaps as well as enhancing understanding through media outlets, information and dialog between nations. In a press statement, Dr. Saleh Al Namlah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information and Head of the Saudi Delegation, said that GCC's media meeting places high emphasis on external media as a single representative of the Gulf Region. He also added that it aims at enhancing the Arab and Muslim stand as well as conveying a unified message. The GCC has organized a number of similar activities in a number of international capitals including Paris in 2004, Brussels in 2005, Berlin in 2006, the Hague in 2007, and Madrid in 2008.
