The Ministry of Culture and Information of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia takes part in the days of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member countries to be held in the Spanish capital of Madrid from 13 - 15 October 2008, it was reported here today. The Saudi delegation to the event is headed by Undersecretary of Culture and Information for external information Dr. Saleh bin Mohammed Al-Namlah. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Namlah said the events include many activities covering the political, economic, intellectual and scientific fields. He said these events are designed to address the influential political, economic, scientific and information elites; they come in the framework of efforts exerted to defend the Arab and Islam worlds against media campaigns in Europe; and shed light on Islam's moderation. These events will actively contribute to the creation of mutual understanding, rapprochement and dialogue with others in a way that serves the common interests of all parties, he said, adding that this GCC common action shares common grounds with a call by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for dialogue among religions, civilizations and cultures. Al-Namlah pointed out that this event will be held every year in an European capital in cooperation between the General Secretariat of the GCC and the embassies of the GCC countries in the host European country. --More
