Stock market futures were higher today, on the last day of trading in 2008. Less than two hours before the start of trading, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were 16 points higher at 8656. The S&P 500 futures rose 2.9 to 891.1, and Nasdaq 100 futures gained 2.75 to 1208.75. On Tuesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 184 points, after financial stocks climbed in the late afternoon. Still, the Dow remains down about 35 percent for the year. Also, crude oil dropped below $37 per barrel yesterday.
