Investors nervous about corporate earnings reports signaled a mixed opening for futures. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were nine points higher at 8004. The S&P 500 futures slipped 1.3 to 852.7, and Nasdaq 100 futures rose 2.75 to 1334.75. Goldman Sachs yesterday announced a $5 billion stock offering to help repay funds issued by the government. Goldman also announced a profit of $1.8 billion. Retail sales and inflation data are on the economic agenda today. President Barack Obama will make a speech on the economy at 11:30 a.m., while Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke will deliver a speech on “Four Questions about the Financial Crisis.”
