U.S. stocks are poised to climb today, as energy stocks continue to look attractive to investors. Less than two hours before the start of trading, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were 30 points higher at 8502. The S&P 500 futures gained three points to 871.9, and Nasdaq 100 futures rose 7.5 to 1196. On Friday, the Down Jones Industrial Average, boosted by energy stocks, closed up 47 points. The S&P 500 gained 7.4 points and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 5.3 points. The Wall Street Journal reported today that “oil is likely to remain in focus Monday after a second day of strong gains pushed the February light crude contract back above $40 a barrel due to concerns over tension in the Middle East and expectations more OPEC members will confirm production cuts this week.” Light crude for February delivery rose $2.63, or 7 percent, to $40.34 a barrel.
